The Maitre d’s Christmas Music Extravaganza

Other Songs To Fill Out Your Playlist

Steve Taylor – Winter Wonderland

You’re probably never heard of this guy. I could explain why you need to find his entire discography right now and listen to it, but that’s not the purpose of this article. (That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t, that just means I’m not going to tell you why you should do it.)

I need only say one word: mariachi.

It’s so bizarre, it’s brilliant.

“Weird Al” Yankovic – The Night Santa Went Crazy

This song is off of Weird Al’s Bad Hair Day. An excellent album. The first Weird Al album I ever owned. If you haven’t heard of it… well, you’ve been living under a rock. Or you have a life and normal musical tastes. Whatever.

This is a song about Santa getting drunk and slaughtering all of his elves and reindeer. With a frickin’ rifle. “Merry Christmas to all, now you’re all gonna die!”

Picture that.

No, seriously. Picture that. You’re not picturing enough blood.

OK. Now you see why this must be on your playlist this Christmas.

“Weird Al” Yankovic – Christmas at Ground Zero

I put this below “The Night Santa Went Crazy” simply because it isn’t quite as twisted. Oh, sure, it’s twisted. A freaking nuclear war is going down on Christmas. “Everywhere the atom bombs are dropping, it’s the end of all humanity, no more time for last minute shopping, it’s time to face your final destiny!”

It just doesn’t have the raw, bloody on-screen violence that the previous song does. And we’re no longer in the middle of the Cold War.

But it’s still pretty twisted.

So, there’s my votes for an excellent Christmas listening experience. Stay tuned for my Christmas anime episode spectacular, coming soon.
